Extend the life of your shampoo bar!

You have finally started your zero waste journey!

But how can you get the most out of the shampoo and conditioner bars you have acquired?

Two keywords:

  1. Usage

  2. Storage!

Let's first talk about usage. How do you actually use shampoo and conditioner bars? ✨🌞🧼🚿 If you're new to solid shampoo and conditioner, it can seem challenging to actually use it; how do I get the product into my hair?!? Well, here's a little recipe:

  1. Rub the bar against the scalp until it lathers. Massage in and rinse out. Start gently and apply more product as needed. If you feel like you're not getting enough lather 🧼🫧..shampoo twice. Maybe your scalp just needs an extra thorough cleansing ✨✨

  2. Rinse well🚿🚿🚿

  3. Moving on to the conditioner: gently rub it over your hair and through the lengths a couple of times. Here, you can start cautiously, as conditioner goes a long way. If you use too much, your hair might become heavy. Less is more!

  4. Spread the product a bit through the hair, but do not massage it into the scalp. Conditioner is meant to treat the lengths and provide ample moisture.

  5. Rinse well🚿🚿🚿 and you're DONE!✨

What about storage? I ALWAYS have a separate container for my shampoo and conditioner bars. But why should you invest in a travel container when using shampoo and conditioner bars? 🧼

Here are 3 simple reasons:

  1. It makes storage super easy! When your shampoo bar is dry, you can just put it back in its container for the next use. It doesn't get simpler than that!

  2. They are 100% waterproof and recyclable! They are made of aluminum, which is a very sustainable material and easy to recycle. They also keep moisture out, so your shampoo bar won't get damp if it comes into contact with water while resting inside its container.

  3. They extend the life of your shampoo bar! By storing the shampoo bar in a separate container (instead of a bag, for example), you prevent it from becoming soft and potentially crumbling. It also protects the shampoo bar from getting crushed or cracked during travel. Just remember to let the shampoo bar dry a bit BEFORE placing it back in the container, or else it might retain moisture and dissolve the next time you use it… and we do not want that.

BUT DO YOU NEED A TRAVEL CONTAINER??? No. If you prefer to have your shampoo bar on a small soap dish or rack, that works perfectly fine too! The most important thing is that it has a place to dry and avoids exposure to moisture between each use. You can also use a container you already have if it fits. Reuse is gold! ✨🌞
